about me

My name is Matt. You don’t need to know my last name, though you could find it out pretty easily, I’m sure. The first correct answer on a postcard gets a shiny new nickel.

I’m 33, but I’m often told that I look either younger or older.

I’m English, and recently moved back to England after spending the last 13 years living abroad, in the United States (Atlanta and San Diego) and France (Paris), with a brief stint in Vancouver, Canada thrown in for good measure.

In Atlanta, I went to university for six years. I got a Bachelors degree in Classics (Latin and Greek), and a Masters degree in Applied Linguistics. I’m not sure if I’ll ever use them, but it was a great experience, and I met the most wonderful people there. I just completed another Masters degree in San Diego, in Educational Technology. I’d probably study for the rest of my life, if I could.

I love music, long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, the wind in my hair, the sun in my heart, the Osmonds, powder-blue velour pantsuits with white piping, bicycles, and asparagus.

I hate hornets, Drambuie, and hate. I hate hate.

I love raw code, and eschew WYSIWYG. I always want to know how it works deep down inside. I’d rather spend ten hours writing my own script to do something from scratch than one hour installing and configuring someone else’s, because that’s how I learn.

I love Mexican, Italian, and Indian food. I love bread, cheese, fruit, tea, coffee, wine, and yogurt. I don’t eat chocolate, beef, or plums.

In the unlikely event that you might want to know more, you can always ask me. I’ll reply if you don’t get spamkilled.
